I am a Hugo award-winning fantasy/SF artist who works on both publishing projects and film concept work(such as Jimmy Neutron and most recently, The Ant Bully) but I have a passion for landscape work, small paintings and exploring the properties of paint. This blog will mostly showcase my "painting-for-the-day" as kind of a personal voyage. I'll also be inserting sketches,photos and ideas of projects I am working on, that I can, when I can, so look for those every so often(usually as paint is drying!)

Fall 2010...

This is my new "How To" book coming out in Fall 2010. It's looking terrific, and I'm currently captioning it and adding things to it. I'll keep people posted as to when it goes on sale on Amazon and such.

Okay, a floating rock with a castle...

Floating Fortress (8x10 oils, SOLD.)
Lots of attention has been given to AVATAR with it's weird floating rocks and mountains. It's not a new image. Roger Dean did them in the 1970's and going further back, Rene Magritte did them, and further back, some ancient Chinese silk painters did them. I did this, as just a fun one off because I too had always wanted to paint one. This was fun to do, why does it float? In this case...Magic!
