Lovecraft City
Here's a conceptual drawing for a private commission based on H.P. Lovecraft's AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS. I love working this way when I am able to and starting ideas with a whole lot of drawings. Drawings are so rare these days it seems save for movie concept work. But notice to the right, the effigy of Cthulhu which is crux of everything in Lovecraft's works.
I did this with charcoal, sepia and white on a toned paper.

I'm in love with all your 'Lovecraft' paintings!

I'm listening to this on audio right now and this is the perfect, unsettling companion to this story. I love how everything in the landscape is slightly weird and the sepia tone is really effective.
Maurizio!! I'm honored you stopped by!!! Been a fan for years!!! Thanks for the kind words! This will only be the center of the painting. More fun at the edges.
Hi Eric!!! What audio? WOW! I'd love to get my hands on this!
Thanks for the cool words my friend. It means alot to me to get this feedback!
Cool.
Did you see the Lovecraft art writeup over at io9? You got some mention.
